Self-Employment
Half way through my gap year between 6th form and university I started to teach myself website design and development. Since then I have registered as self-employed and designed websites for a number of clients (sample URL’s can be found below). The websites which I design are controlled by my own CMS systems designed to suit the client’s specific needs, and the feedback I have had has been extremely encouraging especially on the usability aspect of my designs. I endeavour to continually improve my work and learn more to realise the visions of my clients.
Being self-employed has helped me to gain and improve on some important business skills, one of which being marketing. One way in which I promoted myself was by making business cards and leaflets and going the Royal Welsh Show to talk to business owners of stalls. I managed to secure 2 clients from a day at the show, and am in talks at the moment with a 3rd who has contacted me recently.

Personal Interests
Many of my personal interests are in computers, but apart from this I also am very interested in motor racing, and I’m sure that I will be taking part in many events in the future. Since starting university I have joined the skydive society and at the time of writing thrown myself out of a plane twice, and I’m sure I’ll keep doing this for many years to come! I also have a fascination with understanding how things work, and like to create. In my A level Electronics Project I designed an object avoiding robot by myself. This robot went above and beyond what was required and functioned very well, gaining me 100% for my project.
