About Me
My name is James Dobb and I'm a first year student studing an ITO (Information & Technology in Organisations) masters course at the University of Southampton's ECS (Electronics and Computer Science) department.
Work-related Interests
My main interest in the computing field is web design and development. I started teaching myself website design and development half way through my gap year between 6th form and university, and samples of my work can be found on my portfolio page. I always enjoy challenging myself to create a bigger and better product either just to teach myself something or simply to ensure the client is as satisfied as possible. I find the graphic design element of web design the most challenging element of web projects, and although I am improving in this area still find myself being very self-critical of my designs, never quite happy enough with the work I produce and strive for better!
I never like to work on something that will teach me very little and always like to gain some knowledge from a project. This unfortunately means I can find it very difficult to motivate myself on some projects which require little of me.
I also gained an interest in computer hardware which helped to save myself money when it came to upgrading from my first computer as I built it myself around 3 years ago (which is the same computer I currently use, all be it with a few upgrades and heavy overclocking!). After this I also built a few more computers which helped me to earn a little bit of money and gain a greater understanding of computer hardware.

Personal Interests
I have always loved driving / cars in general and can imagine myself prioritizing money for a new car rather than anything else later on in life! I despise car ‘modding’ and boy racers (partly because of the amount I have to pay in insurance!). My favorite car would currently have to be the Aston Martin DBS shown to the left (click on the image to enlarge).
As much as I love driving (and have joined the motorsport society) I have found something which has gained all of my attention.....skydiving! At the time of writing I have only had two static line jumps from 3,500ft however I have already fallen in love with the sport and can imagine myself wasting a lot of money over the coming 4 years throwing myself out of a plane! I am soon to start dummy pulls which are to show that I am capable of deploying my own parachute in the air. After
